Raise Your Game

My favorite football team is out of the playoffs. The expectations were high but the team came up short of its goals. Players and coaches are already thinking about what adjustments are needed to raise their game for next season. They will be playing against the elite teams next year as they go for another opportunity to play in the big game.

Life is also like being on a football team. You may get the opportunity to design offensive plays and score touchdowns. At other times, you may be on the defense. Your goal may be to stop the enemy from attacking. The key is to avoid thinking you are going to lose. You may get the chance to come up with a big play on "special teams".

As you look at the "game schedule" ahead, prepare now for Valentine's Day. There are people in your life that want to know just how much you love them. Use these next two and a half weeks to learn their love language. Raise your game to new levels and try some new plays designed to show your loved ones just how much you care.

The season of life is a long one. There will be victories and losses. The best teams are the ones that look at what they are doing wrong and then make changes. Raising your game is something you want to strive for every day. It takes hard work and perseverance. Go for it.
