Preparing for Spring

The sun has returned today and I am really excited to get on the tennis courts with my daughter. It is the first time the skies have been clear in a week. This period of Winter is necessary for everything to turn green. The storms have been relentless.

It is really easy to lose focus on your goals when the weather outside is stormy. It is important to adapt so that you keep the momentum of the new year going. When the sun does eventually come out, take advantage and get outside. Exercise regularly so that you can be in shape to enjoy Spring. I am eager to get back to the beach and go on walks with my wife. There is a new energy that you get when are eating right and sticking to a fitness plan.

If you feel like you are hibernating and you don't want to get out because the weather is not the best, visualize what is ahead if you can just overcome the urge to be a couch potato. If you want to look good in the spring you need to pay the price today. Go for it. Take a hike or go on a jog. Spring will be that much more fun if you get in shape now. You deserve to feel better. Forget about the weather and just commit to getting in shape no matter what obstacles are in the way. Have a great day and make sure to read the article from today's San Diego Union-Tribune below about walking:

Take a longer walk

You need to cover more miles to get more smiles. The farther you walk, the better your mood, suggests a University of North Carolina study. Researchers tracked women who walked either 30 or 60 minutes three days a week for six months. Those who trekked the longest reported feeling four times more positive about their bodies and their abilities to get through the day than those who went half as far.
