Treasure Box Coming to Ramona

My good friend, Martha, who runs "Martha's Kitchen" (that is our nick-name for the soup kitchen she runs for the needy) in Ramona is stepping it up big time to expand food distribution to anyone looking to get great prices on food.  Rich or poor, there are no restrictions.  My firefighter buddy, Pat Byrne (see post, "Private Faith", from May 26th), has volunteered to pick up the food down the hill until we have enough orders to qualify for free delivery.  Pat wants to get this food all the way to Julian and to some of the people now in prison near Julian (Hey Pat, are you going to put that flashing blue light from K-Mart on your truck again when you make the food deliveries?).

Many volunteers will be needed to distribute the food once a month on Saturday morning.  This program will be run out of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, but it is for EVERYONE, regardless of faith or no faith.  Let's bring these churches together for the good of everyone in our community.

I have been buying two boxes every month at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church.  These volunteers have been exceptional.  Now, it is our turn to help others.  Send me an email if you are interested in helping out.  I will be helping Martha's team by speaking to the other churches in Ramona and making some announcements after church.  It is really exciting to be helping out for such a great cause.

check out their site for details, http://www.thetreasurebox.org/.  Martha will have everything ready in time for the July delivery.  Thanks for spreading the word and check out the July menu below...
