What lies before us and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The biggest mistake we can make with our lives is to think that we are insignificant, that we cannot make a difference. The world cannot afford to have you remain on the sidelines. Silence means that the status quo is acceptable.
I remember a story of a small town that produced wine from the vineyards. Every year, each person contributed wine into a community vat. They would have an annual celebration and share the wine with each other. One year, life was difficult and some felt that nobody would notice if they skipped on their contribution, they added water instead. On the day of the festival, only water came out. Each member of the community was ashamed.
Recently, I wrote about how each of us is like a car part on the automobile. We are connected to each other for the good of all. My Zoom Autos car has four lug nuts on each wheel. Perhaps, I could get by if one lug nut disappeared. What about two? This would lead to a car wreck and everyone would suffer.
Do not underestimate the power that is within you. It is in the hard times that your gifts are needed the most. We need to stick together to survive. At the end of your life, you will have an opportunity to review it with the Creator. You will see how your contributions, no matter how small you thought they were, helped to change the world around you. Your life is special and the world needs you stay connected. Lets make sure that water does not come out of the vat when everyone is counting on wine...
