Class Dismissed

Jesus Wept ~ John 11:35

The bell never rang on the last day of class.  Charlotte, Olivia, Ana, Dylan, Madeline, Catherine, Jesse, James, Emilie, Jack, Noah, Caroline, Jessica, Avielle, Benjamin and Allison, each six years old, and seven-year-old classmates Daniel, Josephine, Chase and Grace, along with their beloved principal, Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, heroic teachers, and the school psychologist dismissed early.  Jesus wept.

School is not out for the rest of us who have so many questions.  Our hearts are broken.  We grieve for all the families affected by the tragedy in Newton, Connecticut.  Some are asking, "where is Jesus?"

When Jesus was with His followers, He heard the same question.  They wanted to know why He allowed His good friend Lazarus to die.  Jesus wept.  Then He asked Lazarus to wake up.  Perhaps Lazarus needed to die so that Jesus could teach His followers He has power over death.  The Kindergarteners who were killed already know this.  They are with Jesus right now.  Their class is dismissed.  Our own bell has not rung yet.  We must wake up -- even if we have tears in our eyes today.  Jesus teaches us it is okay to weep.
