What would you do if suddenly, out of nowhere, you got a call about someone you love who suffered a heart attack or stroke? What if someone you love had a fall and no one knew about it because nobody checked in on them? What steps would you take? Do you know who to call for help? I'm not writing this to make you feel guilty if you don't know the answers. In fact, I'm sharing this from personal experience.
Twenty-one years ago my dad was living far, far away from his adult children. He was dying. None of us knew this. It took an act of God to open up the lines of communication. It's true that many people in this world prefer seclusion and isolation. They value privacy more than relationships. What about the others who are in our circle of friends that we are in a relationship with? What happens when they suffer a tragedy but we don't even know?
I'm making a commitment to get contact numbers for friends of loved ones so that in the event of a tragedy I can reach out to the community and share the news. How about you? Are you willing to do the same thing for the loved ones in your life? Take action. Start today. Have a great day.
