Hawaii is pretty much off-limits these days. We decided to defer our vacation to paradise rather than deal with all the hassles that come with traveling during the pandemic. I promised my wife that next year will be worth the wait. We are really big on applying honors points accumulated from business travel and credit card reward money for everyday purchases toward vacations. I found a credit card that offers a companion ticket once a year for $99 + tax. It's a bargain when flying to Maui and makes vacations really affordable.
My vacation challenge is to find a way to pay for two weeks next year without sacrificing our plan to reach financial independence on target. That means paying attention to the details of our spending habits. The vacation deferral is allowing us extra time to set aside the funds we need to enjoy Hawaii. All we need is for the authorities to show a little aloha and allow us to visit. The clock is ticking. Have a great day.
