There's a New Sheriff in Town

Our pastor of seven years retired on July 1.  This set up a realignment of multiple houses of worship in the area.  Perhaps the greatest gift our former pastor left us was his request for prayers during the time of transition.  In my opinion, we got three for the price of one when it was announced we would get two deacons along with our new pastor who hails from Africa.  One of the deacons had a stellar career in law enforcement before answering the 911 call to help others grow in their faith.  It was the new deacon who spoke first in our congregation yesterday.

In other news, I found out our bishop plans to attend Ragbrai, a bike ride across Iowa, later this month.  I'm hoping to ride with his flock of cyclists and visit multiple houses along the way.  By the way, it was sad to say goodbye to our last pastor, a former teacher, who devoted his life to helping others learn about Jesus.  Please keep my community in your prayers as we adjust to new worship times and new leadership.  Have a great day.
