Go For The Gold

Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso are pictured here. They both overcame huge obstacles to take gold and silver in the Olympic downhill yesterday. Lindsey arrived at the winter Olympics with a badly injured shin. She and her husband communicated by two-way radio just before her race. It was the husband's job to keep Lindsey updated on the racers ahead of her. The hope was that she would hear her husband tell her "ski solid", which means go at 90% and don't take any risks, that will be all that is needed to take the gold. The husband reported that Mancuso had taken the lead and it was going to take an exceptional run to beat her.

Vonn said "it was time to ski aggressively, fight hard and take the gold medal. Otherwise, someone else was going to win that gold." She gave all she had. Despite her lack of training due to her injury, she flew through the air on the final jump and wobbled before crossing the finish line .56 seconds ahead of Mancuso.

These two Americans did not let a back injury or a shin injury stop them from reaching their goal. There are many races ahead before the Olympics are over and they will both push for more gold. They are an inspiration for our country and for the world.

Whatever your goals in life are, don't let anything get in the way. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and give it your best. Be aggressive in the pursuit of your goals, fight hard and take the gold...
