Consider your top three priorities. This is probably where you spend most of your time. Depending on your current situation, you may find yourself modifying the order of these priorities. I found that what works best for me is keeping the order fixed in all circumstances. This requires daily discipline. For me, my top three are God number 1, family number 2, and work number 3.
What is your top priority? If you answer work, think about the consequences of this. Sure, you may get a bigger paycheck or a promotion, but at what cost? Putting God in a lesser position has consequences. Should you sacrifice your relationship with God in order to pursue your career, you may lose your way. Without God in the first position, everything else eventually fails.
What happens when you put family in the first position above God. Sadly, you are teaching your loved ones to also put God in a lesser position. Whatever you put in first place becomes your god.
Make a commitment to put God in first place for the next thirty days of your life and see what happens. Why not consider making family your second top priority over your work and try this for the next thirty days? If you see an improvement, make this permanent. Good luck with your experiment. Have a great day.
