Living in Bonus Time

Bonus:  Something welcome and often unexpected that accompanies and enhances something that is itself good.

It doesn't feel like twenty-five years of marriage.  I'm still pinching myself.  If I had been born sixty years earlier, odds are I would already be at the end of the life expectancy table.  Welcome to bonus time.  It's like adding extra minutes to a soccer game.  I'm treating each day as a gift and I'm not taking anything for granted.

What's the best thing you can do when someone gives you a gift?  I believe the answer is to use your gift to the fullest of your ability.  That means healthy eating, daily exercise and surrounding yourself with others who appreciate all the opportunities in front of them.  For me, it means taking a moment to say thanks to all the people far and near who helped me to reach bonus time.  It also means giving back.  I promise to give something back every day until the clock expires.  How about you?  Are you living in bonus time?  What are you going to do today that enhances something that is itself good?
