Are You Confident?

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?  How would you feel if your boss asked you to speak in front of a large audience for five minutes without any notes?  That mirror you see in the picture works both ways -- you are either the cat who sees a lion or a lion who sees a cat.  What you see is related to your confidence level.  If you wish to become confident, try these suggestions:
  1. Be prepared.  Any time you face a difficult situation, the better you are at preparing, the easier the task.
  2. Rehearse.  My brothers and I walked away with armloads of stuffed animals at our grade school carnival because we practiced picking up empty coke bottles at home using home-made poles with rings attached at the end of the string.  We got banned because we won every time we played the game.
  3. Remember who you are.  You are a unique individual.  No other in the world is exactly like you.  Identify your specific gifts and remind yourself you are uniquely qualified for certain roles.  Concentrate on the areas where your strengths shine and avoid situations you were not made for.
Confident people attract other people.  They can't see the lion in you if you don't see it in yourself.  Your Creator sees the lion.  He created you in His own image.  Remember that the next time your knees feel shaky.  Do you have any ideas to help others gain confidence.  Feel free to add to the conversation in the comments section below.
