The Principle of Proactivity

Proactivity...the ability to create your life story … to base your life on your decisions, not your conditions ~ Steven Covey

Today's blog message is a follow-up to an earlier post about choosing to be happy.  According to Steven Covey, who wrote the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, we can write our own scripts for the lives we desire.  It is a choice to base our lives on values rather than moods.  For example, when we value happiness, we can make decisions about our actions and behaviors that increase our chances of becoming happy regardless of how we feel.

Proactivity is defined as acting in advance to deal with an expected difficulty.  Expect life to be difficult.  Take the initiative and become proactive.  By choosing to be happy, you will become free and you will unleash resources inside yourself that you never dreamed possible.

Pick up a copy of Steven's book for more great pointers.  The power is within you to become proactive.  It all starts with a decision.  Decide today that the principle of proactivity will be a big part of your life...
