Awaken Your Senses

"I don't know what a pear tastes like to you?" ~ the angel Seth from "City of Angels"

The angel Seth, played by Nicolas Cage in "City of Angels", falls for Dr. Maggie Rice (Meg Ryan).   The only way for him to experience the sense of taste is to give up life as an immortal angel.

Seth relies on Dr. Rice's descriptions to  "feel" the sense of taste that many of us take for granted.  Experiencing Jesus is the same.  The Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, all describe Him using the same rich words crafted by Hemingway in his novels.  If desiring to experience the taste of a pear got Seth to give up "angel-hood", imagine how much better it is to experience Jesus with all five senses?  It is a unique experience to each of us who seeks Him.  Once you invite Him into your heart, your senses will come alive fully, allowing you to become part of a new world filled with passion, something even a Hemingway would find challenging to describe in words.

Experience Him with your own senses and then share your experience with others.  Don't forget to also watch "City of Angels" with my favorite actress.  Even angels can't resist someone as flavorful as Meg Ryan...

She bites into a pear:
“What's it taste like?

Describe it. Like Hemingway.”

“Well, it tastes like...

...a pear.”

“You don't know what a pear tastes like?”

“I don't know what a pear
tastes like to you.”

Sweet...

...juicy.

Soft on your tongue.
Grainy...

...like sugary sand that
dissolves in your mouth.
