I didn't know who they were when they came in together to ask for help at my day job at the beginning of the season. Well, the world knows who they are now. What a fascinating year this has been for the hometown heroes of Iowa. There is a reason this community comes together to support them. They are outstanding at what they do. I first fell in love with the Hawkeyes when our daughter transferred to the school during her junior year one year after our relocation from California. The first thing my wife's sister did was give us Hawkeye gear to help us fit in to our new surroundings. I quickly learned the town stops for any sport the teams play. Wrestling is number one, followed by football. Moving up in the ranks is basketball. The lady Hawkeyes happen to have the highest TV ratings so far, garnering 12.3 viewers in their elite 8 win over the defending champions from last year.
If you get a chance, tune in to the final four games tonight and see what everybody in Iowa is talking about. Pay attention to the teamwork. Great teams know that winning comes from playing together and bringing out the best in one another. It helps to have the greatest 3 point shooter of all times who happens to be right up there with highest number of assists as well. Have a great day.
