Old Testament Meets New Testament

Here's a Bible trivia question for you...

Who was the last Old Testament prophet?

Here are some clues.
  • His dad was a priest in the Jewish temple
  • He never minced words
  • He wasn't allowed to drink wine or hard liquor
  • He ate grasshoppers and wild honey
  • The first time the two crossed paths, Jesus and the prophet were both still in the wombs
  • He lost his head by the king's order
Got the answer?

John the Baptist was the last prophet of the Old Testament.  His job was to prepare the way for Jesus.  If John were still with us today, he would be out there somewhere in the desert shouting, "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way for the Lord."  His prophecy goes beyond Christmas when we celebrate our Savior's birth.  It's also about the day when Jesus returns.  You can read all about it in the New Testament.  Have a great day.
