It's 5am in St. Louis. It's been raining all night. Today's matches may be delayed. We are in a dog fight. All of us in our pool are tied at one win (3-2) and one loss (2-3). Someone in our pool of 4 teams will go home after our next match. Another team will earn the afternoon off and get a bye into the semifinals on Sunday. The other two teams in the middle will play another match late in the day against the survivors from the second pool of teams. Last team standing does to Surprise, Arizona in October.
I would like to salute my teammates for their strong play in adverse conditions. One opponent changed his shirt four times before succumbing 6-0 to Matt, a medical student who joined our team this season to give us what we need to advance.
