It's over. We left everything on the courts. This will be one of my best memories ever. We thought we did everything we needed to do stamp our ticket to the semifinals this morning. We needed three match wins and got them all in sudden death super tiebreakers set up to account for another rain delay. Team captain and partner Steve once again had us on our seats when they put away a volley at 9-9 to win. Matt faced a well seasoned tournament player known for marathon rallies and beat him at his own game to remain undefeated in singles play for the tournament. At the end of the day we beat our third round opponent 3-2. Then we got the bad news. We missed first place in our pool by one tiebreaker and were asked to turn in a lineup in thirty minutes. The next round was devastating.
I can't say enough good things about my teammates. We're going home with memories that will last a lifetime. Special thanks to Jim, our fearless leader, and my wife, who encouraged all of us every step of the way. We're headed to the Basilica this morning for worship before departing St. Louis. The next adventure begins tomorrow. Have a great day. Thank you for your support.
