Mulligan's Magical Forest Update

Stardate 11.5.2025

The oldest known possible ancestor was buried in a cave 7,000 years ago in northern Spain — about one hundred miles from the town of Rubalcaba, where my mother’s relatives still live. This ancient caveman, remarkably, is the oldest human from whom scientists have successfully extracted viable DNA from a tooth to map his genetic makeup.

Much to my surprise, he was dark-skinned and blue-eyed. The front cover of The Caveman in the Mirror is based on an artist’s rendering of this man’s reconstructed appearance — created from his skull and brought to life by a gifted graphic artist.

It’s fascinating how history tends to repeat itself. One cousin of mine once thrived in a van. Another humorously “deported” himself to a self-made paradise he called Mulligan’s Island. As for me, I’ve spent much of my life living metaphorically in a cave — safe, introspective, and searching.

But now, Mulligan’s Magical Forest is my upgrade from that cave. I call it magical because that’s truly the only word that fits what’s happening as I bring this home studio to life.

As I transition from blogging to vlogging, you’ll soon see what unfolds when someone sheds self-limiting beliefs and decides to go all-in on dreams that might seem outlandish or even impossible. If someone like me — with practically zero experience building home studios or vacation homes on wheels — can bring this vision to life, then truly, anyone can do something magical.

That’s what this mission is all about. Most of the software I’m using is completely free, except for Canva, which my wife gifted me last Christmas. That $120 investment for the full year paid for itself in the first 30 days when I used it to design the cover for my first audiobook.

Mulligan’s Magical Forest is almost ready for its grand reveal — and trust me, you won’t want to miss what’s ahead.

Stay tuned. Stay hopeful. And remember — the forest grows most beautifully where light finally breaks through. 🌿

🖖 Captain’s Addendum

Bones: “Spock, you ever notice how Mulligan seems to turn every cave into a command center?”
Spock: “Indeed, Doctor. It would appear he has discovered a statistically improbable method of converting isolation into inspiration.”
Bones: “Well, I’ll be — maybe there’s hope for the rest of us after all.”
Spock: “Hope, Doctor, is the one variable even logic cannot fully quantify.”
Michael: “And maybe that’s what faith really is, gentlemen — the courage to believe that something beautiful is still being built in the dark.”

Scripture Reflection

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5

Mission Log

Today’s entry reminds us that the greatest transformations often begin in hidden places — in caves, forests, or quiet corners of the soul. When we trust God with our small beginnings, He turns them into living testimonies of His grace.

May you live long, prosper in purpose, and walk boldly in divine love.

With gratitude,
Michael 🌲✨
