On Friday evening (Star Date 11.07.2025), I enjoyed a beautifully memorable dinner with my wife Helen and my mother, Gloria, at Pueo’s Osteria — tucked away in the lovely setting of Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. We were warmly welcomed at the restaurant located at 68‑1820 Waikoloa Road, Suite 1201, Waikoloa, HI 96738.
From the moment we walked in, the experience felt like more than just dining out: it felt like being among friends. Although the place was quite busy (as one might expect on a Friday evening), making our reservation was seamless and the staff treated us like family. The owners — including their daughter and wife — personally greeted us, setting a tone of genuine warmth.
Our server, Matthew, walked us expertly through the specials of the day and shared the team’s commitment to offering the finest selections — including ingredients imported directly from Italy. Each dish arrived with intention, each detail considered, and the entire evening unfolded in a way that felt both elevated and relaxed.
This is a place whose heart is in its hospitality as much as in its cuisine.
If you find yourself on the Big Island and looking to step off‑resort for an evening of exceptional food, inviting atmosphere, and real aloha in every gesture, I wholeheartedly recommend Pueo’s Osteria. Click here for more. Tell them Mulligan from the Magical Forest sent you. We came all the way from Iowa to have new experiences. If the rest of our vacation goes as well as this first night, we are going to tell everyone we know about this amazing slice of Heaven with a great Italian flavor you won't want to miss. Aloha.

I'm noting in my Captain’s Log that another magical creature has been added to the magical forest in honor of the family who owns Pueo's Osteria. The pueo is a daytime owl who protects man in times of danger. Michael notes God's timing is always perfect. I'm thankful to cross paths with this amazing family.
