Mulligan Family Rides Pickleball Wave at Maui Social

 Stardate 11.19.2025

Our youngest son and my wife attended a pickleball social at the Westin in Kaanapali yesterday.  My mom came out to the courts and asked me to have a hit at the conclusion.  She had a paddle in one hand and her walker in the other hitting as many as ten shots in a row including her backhand side which she cleverly hit in front of the walker.  The morning was a smashing success.

It's mind blowing how fast this sport is exploding.  The resort has four permanent pickleball courts and one roll-out net that is used for their socials which take place at least twice a week.  It won't be long until these folks expand as we had people waiting to join the fun.  We will be back tomorrow for the next event.  If you haven't tried pickleball, why not?  Some of you may be thinking you're too old or you are not athletic.  If my mother can do this despite nearly dying six months ago, you have no excuses.  We rotated partners during our social and met some amazing people.  Mom can't wait to report this to her doctor.  Mahalo.  Aloha.  May you live long and prosper.

Captain’s Addendum

Our youngest son treated us to an exhilerating jet ski experience after pickleball.  This ranks as a top 10 life experience.  If you decide to try this in Hawaii, plan accordingly.  They shut down in December to give the whales space.  They are already here.  Last night we spotted hundreds of dolphins playing outside our resort.  It's a magical time of the year.
