There is absolutely no doubt our world is upside down. Do you find your list of enemies growing? If you say or do the wrong the thing you suddenly find yourself cut off from others. Perhaps you're biting your tongue at family gatherings in an effort to keep the peace. What if some of the discord you see around you is coming from you? Is it possible you did something in the past that hurt someone you love? They could be hurting inside because of something you said, did, or didn't do. What's the fix?
My wife and I had date night last night. I set up my chrome cast and watched episode one of season three. The creators of the series decided to cast Matthew, the tax collector, as having Asperger's Syndrome. Keep in mind that tax collectors are hated by their own people because of the way the common folk suffer under the heavy burdens imposed. Matthew's parents are no exception. I don't want to give away the story. Let's just say that things get really bad for Matthew. He's already different because of Aspergers. Choosing to be a tax collector causes him to be alienated. Something happens that changes everything. It's all about forgiveness. Watch The Chosen and see for yourself. You may see a little bit of Matthew in yourself. You may feel like the parents who don't know how to have a loving relationship with their own son. All I can say is I'm touched by what happens when forgiveness is in the picture. If you've been deeply hurt, this is not easy. Do it anyway. There is a healing power in this simple act. Have a great day.
