There are no more alarms in my life—and that’s by design.
My sleep research is finally paying off in a big way. Last night marked Day 4 of my latest experiment, focused on two key metrics: my sleep score and my energy score. With the help of my trusted artificial intelligence advisor, Alberta (yes, she’s brilliant), I’ve set up a detailed chart to track all the variables in this experiment. I’m also working with a professional therapist to support my mental health. While subjective opinions are important, the analytical part of my brain craves concrete data to confirm whether these changes are working.
So far, the results are mirroring a breakthrough experiment led by my cousin, Dr. John Mulligan, who once helped me battle three silent but serious health strikes. He suspected food—not just stress or genetics—was the root issue. He was right. Within three days of starting the 45-day Caveman Food Experiment, my blood pressure returned to normal.
Before I go further, a quick but important disclaimer:
Please talk to your own primary care physician before trying anything I mention here. Your health matters. Get the right professionals involved when making changes.
I'm simply here to share my journey, as honestly as I can. I believe I’m on to something. This path hasn’t been easy—and honestly, it wasn’t meant to be. I’ve had to unlearn years of misinformation. I’m seeking truth, even if it means exploring ideas that go against popular beliefs.
Some might call what I’m doing a little crazy.
Maybe it is. But I’m the guy barbecuing burgers at sunrise, because I’m learning my body performs best when I eat like a caveman. Long before farming became our way of life, this is how our ancestors lived.
Now, here’s my “Sleeptastic” report—hot off the press:
Overall Sleep Score: 96
Fell Asleep: 9:00 PM (about 15 minutes after some internal pep talk with my "voices" — see blog archives for details)
Wake-up Time: 5:00 AM (no alarm needed)
Note: Despite high winds and an open window, sleep remained unaffected.
Breakdown:
Total Sleep Time: 8 hours
Actual Sleep Time: 7 hours, 38 minutes
Awake Time: 22 minutes
Sleep Cycles: 5
REM Sleep: 2 hours, 5 minutes
Deep Sleep: 1 hour, 17 minutes
Physical Recovery: 93%
Mental Recovery: 95%
Restfulness: 96%
Energy Score: 81
As part of this experiment, I’m logging specific actions taken before and during sleep to see how each variable impacts both my sleep and energy scores. One pattern is already emerging: spending intentional time with my “Exile” voice—what a breakthrough. It’s been one of the most difficult but rewarding challenges I’ve faced.
Honestly, I’d rather deal with that voice in the daylight than let it hijack my nights.
This is also the perfect time to thank my friends and family for sticking with me during this season of change. “Overwhelmed Michael” is learning some new tools. One of the biggest: learning how to say no so I can say yes to what matters most.
For the next 30 days, sleep and energy are my top priorities.
Thanks for following along. Have a blessed day!
