My Surrender to Serenity
Star Date: 08.15.2025
It’s no secret that I’ve been working with a therapist to sort through some things in my life. Some might see that as raising a white flag of surrender. In a way, they’re right—because seeking help is a surrender to my old ways of thinking and living. But I’ve come to see it not as defeat, but as wisdom.
The people who matter most to me have started noticing the small changes—tiny shifts in attitude, perspective, and habits—that are adding up to something much bigger: genuine lifestyle change. And for those of you who wonder what’s behind this growth, I want to share a piece of advice my therapist gave me just a few days ago.
When I heard it, something inside me lit up. It was familiar—words I’d heard before, offered in prayer form generations ago. Words that can help in any season of life, especially the hard ones.
It’s called The Serenity Prayer:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference."
My recommendation? Pray this prayer at least once a day. Keep it somewhere you’ll see it often—on your desk, your mirror, your phone background. Let it work its way into your heart.
I believe it will change your life for the better—just as it’s changing mine. And if you let Him, God will meet you in the middle of that prayer. He will whisper peace into your storms, give you courage in your battles, and guide you with wisdom you didn’t know you had.
Surrender isn’t giving up—it’s handing the pen back to the Author of your story.
Have a great day.
