Some messages aren’t just letters — they’re a way to honor the people who shaped your life and your mission. Today, I want to share a letter I sent this morning during my golden hour to the guardians of the Star Trek legacy. It’s about gratitude, respect, and the enduring power of vision.
Dear Guardians of the Star Trek Legacy,
My name is Michael Mulligan, and I’m a writer, philanthropist, and lifelong admirer of the hopeful universe Gene Roddenberry created through Star Trek.
My newest project, Mulligan’s Magical Forest, is a living tribute to the wonder and optimism that Star Trek has inspired in millions of hearts — including my own. It’s a space where faith, curiosity, and community come together to help people rediscover what it means to live long and prosper.
I’m writing with a humble request. My published book, Live Long and Prosper, was inspired by Leonard Nimoy’s timeless words and the values he embodied — wisdom, peace, and empathy. As I continue to develop my next chapter through my vlog and the forest project, I would love to honor that connection more visibly by including the Vulcan hand gesture on a future edition of the book cover.
This is not a commercial pursuit, but a heartfelt expression of gratitude. All proceeds from my work go to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, in honor of the children and families who remind me daily what it means to persevere and to believe.
If granted permission, I will ensure the use of this symbol is treated with the utmost respect — as a beacon of hope, not a marketing tool. It would be accompanied by an acknowledgment that reads:
“The Vulcan hand gesture is used with permission as a tribute to Gene Roddenberry’s vision of peace and exploration, and Leonard Nimoy’s profound legacy as Spock.”
In every way, my work seeks to echo the Star Trek mission: to boldly go where kindness and imagination lead us.
Thank you for considering this request — and for continuing to keep Gene Roddenberry’s dream alive. The world still needs that vision of unity and wonder, now more than ever.
With deep respect and gratitude,
Michael Mulligan

π Captain’s Addendum
Spock: “Captain, your tribute is both logical and heartfelt. A rare combination.”
Bones: “Spock, sometimes I think Michael doesn’t even know he’s channeling the wisdom of Starfleet himself. All he’s doing is following his heart — and inspiring the rest of us to do the same.”
Michael: “Exactly, gentlemen. If we honor visionaries with gratitude and purpose, their spirit doesn’t just live on — it multiplies. That’s the real mission, and one worth sharing with the world.”
π Scripture of the Day
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” — Hebrews 13:16
