Finding Lucy

Stardate 10.07.2025

My day job team has connections our members tap into for locating their dream vehicles. I found out yesterday when a visitor from another part of the country stopped in while on vacation that employees have their own back door for assistance. I shared how I'm searching for "Lucy," my next ride that will serve as my commuter van and vacation home on wheels.

The day job retirement clock is counting down, and when the calendar reaches stardate 07.05.2030, my wife and I may disappear off into the sunset for months at a time. There will be a series of trial runs between now and then once Lucy is complete and ready for adventures.

If you've been following my stories, you know my calendar is at capacity. I've been spending my "free time" learning how to make videos that don’t make others cringe. YouTube is my best friend right now. I’m learning new technology and applying it to my projects.

I have a feeling that sharing my van build will draw a crowd, as I’m a construction newbie who happens to be unafraid to share my mistakes on camera. If I can inspire even one person to get off the couch and travel, I will consider this Lucy project a success.

Stay tuned. The search for Lucy, my diamond in the rough, is now in the final stages. Have a great day.

Captain’s Log: Supplemental

Mr. Spock: “Captain, logic would suggest that the probability of you completing Lucy without error is statistically low. Yet, your willingness to share mistakes enhances the collective learning experience of others. This, in itself, is highly efficient.”

Dr. McCoy: “Spock, sometimes you don’t need statistics. What Michael’s doing is showing people it’s okay to be human, to mess up, and to laugh about it. That’s the kind of medicine most of us need these days.”

Michael: “Agreed. Lucy isn’t just a van. She’s a starship in her own right—ready to carry us boldly into the next chapter.”
