Mortgage companies did a good job of selling their products by convincing us the American dream is all about home ownership. As home prices plummet, that dream looks more like a nightmare to millions. The thirty year loan is like a rope around our necks tied to an anchor; cutting the chord requires the skills of a Houdini.
The real American dream is freedom. My heart goes out to those in lands far off where freedom is only a hope. People are forced to follow the religion of their leaders or face execution. In America, all are welcome. Our leaders may not be popular, however, they are elected by the people and they can be replaced if they do not reflect the will of the people.
Appreciate your freedom. Pray for those who live under oppression. May they one day live the dream we sometimes take for granted in America.
