Star Date 07.01.25
It’s no secret that my wife and I tend to wind down earlier than most. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to modify my shift when the decision was made to open our doors an hour earlier for select patrons. Early in means early out—and I’m already feeling rejuvenated, even though it’s only been one day since the change took effect.
Last night felt like a gift. I barbecued steaks while the weather wrapped us in its perfect embrace. We sat on our backyard swing, sipping red wine and gazing out at the lush green grass as the steaks sizzled on the grill. It was a small but sacred moment.
I’ll be the first to admit—change isn’t always easy. But it becomes easier to embrace when the benefits shine clearly. In this case, it means more evenings like last night, with time to relax and reconnect.
I also want to take a moment to thank all my teammates who made our first day with the new hours possible. They quietly show up each morning at 4 a.m. to get new inventory stocked and displayed. Their commitment often goes unnoticed, yet they rise to meet higher expectations with even less time. I'm grateful for their dedication and teamwork.
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens... a time to plant and a time to uproot... a time to embrace and a time to refrain.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1,5
