"First, do no harm." These words, primum non nocere, the Latin translation from the original Greek, are promises new medical students make when they take the Hippocratic Oath. In my opinion, these words can be applied in our relationships with others. We may not be doctors but we are quite capable of hurting others without these pledges in our daily lives.
Consider how this applies in our words which can become weapons of mass destruction. How careful are you to protect reputations when gossip is rampant, like omicron? Do you allow the virus to spread? What kind of harm are you causing? One way to make this oath work in your relationships is to consider this litmus test: Are the words you are hearing nice, necessary, and true? If the words fail to pass the test, stop spreading the virus. Are you with me? Have a great day.
