How often do you pay compliments to others? If your self rating ranks down there with the Grinch who stole Christmas, today's story is for you. Maybe you grew up in a household where compliments were reserved for CEO's – Christmas and Easter only. Perhaps your boss doesn't want you to get a big head if he or she shares just how proficient you are. It's difficult to compliment others when you rarely receive them yourself. You're missing out on better relationships. A good pat on the back goes a long way, especially if you're a parent or are in a leadership role.
Compliments make the world go around. They encourage others to keep going in tough conditions. You may be thinking, hey, these people around me don't deserve any compliments. They're lazy, they make mistakes and I can't think of one think good to say about them.
You need to find one good thing. Start small. Be genuine. If you really see others this way, you may be responsible for their lack of motivation. Give them one compliment and watch their behavior change right before your eyes. You can be the change the world needs. Compliments are contagious. Go ahead. Make someone's day today. Be lavish in your praise. Have a great day.
